The next event of the season will be the Neptune Regatta in Islandbridge, Dublin on Saturday Apr 06th, 2024.
2nd and 3rd years. 1500m will be taking part.  Coaches will update on crews close to the event.  For more information, see the Rowing Ireland website.

Event Schedule 2023/24

Coláiste Iognaid will participate in several Regatta and Head of the River events in the upcoming season.  There will be a number of Head of the River events in the winter months, followed by the Regattas from April to July.  Rowing events are dependent on the weather so there can be cancellations and we will update the website with any changes.

Directions:
  1. Take the motorway to Limerick
  2. When you get to the outskirts of Limerick, it is best to avoid the city so take the Tunnel.
  3. After the tunnel, follow the signs for the motorway to Dublin (M7) Continue on the M7 for a few miles.
  4. Take Exit 28 for Castleconnell, Castletroy, Newport
  5. Follow signs for Castleconnell (R445) - travelling along the old Dublin road for a few miles.
  6. You will see a few signs on the left for Castleconnell and take the left at Daly's Cross- (opposite Daly's Cross filling station)
  7. Continue on this road for a few hundred yards and take another left at the sign for Castleconnell.
  8. After another few hundred yards, take a right in the middle of the village and continue on this road for a short distance until you get to Charco's Pub. It would be advisable to park in this area.
  9. It is a 15 minute walk down to the course from there. If you are there early you may be able to drive down but there is very limited parking for cars and there are usually traffic stewards controlling access to the course.

You can park at the club and walk up the riverbank to the dangan slip (~1.5 Km).

Alternatively, park at the Dangan sports ground. To get there, drive north from the University or UCHG (hospital) towards Moycullen / Oughterard. After the traffic lights at Galway business park, take the next right (the road markings create a middle lane to assist with turning right).

There will be parking on the left, a little way down this road. You will need to walk from there to the riverbank (~400m).

Attendance at Regattas requires parents to help on a rota to supervise travel and at the event itself. At least one adult male/female must accompany boys/girls on overnight stays.

Your sons and daughters above first year will travel in the mixture of the school bus and parents' cars. First years travel with parents again on a roster system. First years will not normally be involved in overnight stays.
